There was flaw in the nominee's background found in the vetting process.

It's the same thing that happens when you apply for a security clearance. Your closet gets a shake and they see if anything rattles. The higher the clearance, the harder they shake.

That's what we call the system working.
Jeezus Botnst you work hard at making excuses for these guys. You really should look into getting hired on as an RNC hack. The vetting process is always done before the nomination, not after - because the Press come out like sharks once the nomination is announced. I am certain they knew of his "nanny problem" and figured he would get a pass because of his association with 9-11 and the phony media hero thing. It is a convenient story that makes it sound like he is a victim of political correctness, so they can hide the real truth - this guy was hiding more skeltons than a graveyard. I am sure any "nanny" problem would have been well known before nomination, as it is a well known potential problem in Washington that has now become a routine matter for pre-nomination investigation. The other situation he was under Press investigation for, his association with Taser International, a compnay who apparently paid him millions for doing nothing, probably has a great deal more to do with this. In the run-up to the election Taser stock started experiencing substantial rises in its stock price with no valid public known reason for why it should be happening. Rumor is that Taser's stock was being bid up by insiders who knew the administration's plan to put Kerik in charge of Homeland Security. When one connects the dots between Mr. Kerik, government contracts for airport security weapons, Taser, and Mr. Kerik's apparent mulit-million dollar payment-in-advance from Taser, it does not paint a pretty picture. That, his dismal and incompetant performance in Iraq and now this arrest warrant discovered by Newsweek, torpedoed this guy. Again, the Right Wing Propaganda Machine does its work, as all the major media except Newsweek repeat the "nannygate" Party Line:
