IP Vacuum Control Valve tests for Australian delivered 300D

My wife's 300D started having difficulty with the central locking and then started running on a bit after being turned off.
I have isolated the fault to the metal vacuum control valve for the transmission, on the side of the IP. I have bypased the valve and aplied full vacuum to the transmission modulator. SWMBO is coping with using the kickdown to hold lower gear and to manually select a lower gear when needed, but I wish to repair the faulty unit to give her a Transmission which shifts correctly.

This is the control valve I have on this car.

Does anyone have a repair procedure for these?
I have searched and have only found discussions on the plastic vacuum control valve which is fitted to North American cars.
