That would be a terrible thing to do to your springs... as it takes away the spring action....
New MB springs are not expensive.... you will love the ride and restored height of your car if you go to the trouble of installing the correct items....If you have a good Spring Shop closeby you can also take them out and have them reheat treated and stretched back out to the orginal unsprung height with no drawbacks ( pun will be recognized by other blacksmiths there...you draw the temper after quenching )....
I used to work at a spring shop that did all the respringing of the trucks for the City of Austin...
