more progress I think
Folks,
Well being stupid makes fixing things harder, but sometimes I get lucky. My ABS light has now consistenly come on nearly ever trip. I thought I had found the wires from the wheels and going to into the engine compartment. I tried to measure resistance, but got unclear readings on them.
I decided to search for some used parts and ordered a pair of front sensors and an OVP relay. The mail order junk yard took a couple of weeks to get the parts here. I tossed the box on my workbench not really looking at it.
Tonight I had some time and opened the box. I looked at the connectors from the sensors to the in-car wiring and was disappointed. I thought mine were flat rectangular connectors, the ones I received were round, coax shaped. After a little looking on the car I had identified the wrong wires going through the wheel wells. The junk yard had sent the correct parts. I'm glad someone has a brain.
So I checked the new sensors. If I remember correctly, they were about 1300 ohms. I went to check the ones on the car. The driver side was about the same at 1300 ohms. This connector is located along side of the fuse box. I went to passenger side, and as I pulled the connector out of the holder ( immediately in front of the washer fluid tank), the insulation and the connector just fell apart. The resistance measured way off.
I replaced that side and all appears well so far. I just got back from a 20 mile drive and no light. Again, I let everyone know in a couple of days if it stays fixed.
