You have to be careful with the new lock, if you rotate it past position 1 without the lock cylinder in place, you can go ahead and throw the new lock away. ONLY rotate the lock past position 1 with the key. Most people choose to replace the ignition switch too, since it's such a PITA to replace later. Some models they updated the design and you may NEED to replace the ignition switch at the same time, usually the parts guy will notice this footnote when ordering the parts.
