Joe,
First, remove the console wood...you don't have to pull it all the way out, just pull it back and up enough so that you can get your fingers underneath the wood. Wiggle a finger in underneath the console wood and push the switch out from the backside. The switch has some springy metal fingers on it's front and back that keep it from popping out in normal use. You might have to press one of those fingers in to get the switch to release from the console wood.

FWIW, that switch fails because stuff gets spilled (soda, coffee etc) into it.
