About 45 my arms became too short to be able to read the fine print. Been buying cheapo reading glasses ever since. I'm only up to 1.50 for normal reading (20+ years later), but I keep a pair of 1.75 on the night stand for reading in bed after a long, tiring day. Distance vision is still plenty good and I pass the eye test for a drivers license easily enough.

An observation: The more time spent in front of the computer screen or watching TV, the harder it is to read. Thinking of replacing all TV watching with golf and selling the 'puter....
