My 1976 240D used to have a know that adjusted the idle, turn it up when it's cold, turn it down when it's warm.

The reason I ask is that whenever I first start my car, and for the next several miles, I need to drive with two feet. Get's kinda hard when I'm making a right handed turn to prevent the car from stalling.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi Marty- I have a '76 300D which has the idle knob. However, I only need to leave it on high for less than a minute after starting, even on the coldest of days. When I turn it down while still cold, as long as it's been running for more than 30 seconds, the engine is rough, and idles very slowly, but it doesn't stall. If you are experiencing stalling after several miles of driving, it suggests to me that something is wrong.
