looks familiar.

my 81 280 e i chaned the rear to a 3.08. the parts store was supposed to send a correct speedo along but sent one that was for a 3.45 i believe. so the car was going about 85 when the speedo read 70. so i sent my college age son off in it and forgot to tell him about the speedo error. so i forget where he was going but it was a fairly far trip. after about three hours he calls me and says dad, is the speedo right in the car? i am passing everybody like there standing still and it only says i m going 75. so he was going about 90. so i told him. so when he gets home he says dad there is a little vibration in the back of the car could you check it out? so i go out and start up the car and put it in reverse to back out the drive way.. i go about 2' and hear all these awful grinding and crunching noises. so i shut off the car and set the park brake and go back and grab the half shaft and give a yank... sure enough it goes up and down about 2" . i just don't know how he made it home without blowing that cv joint all to hell!
