124 hydrolic shock installation

i have read the 124 cd manual (mb) and see no instructions for bleeding the air from a new shock i just installed on a 1987 300d 124 wagon.
has anyone a suggestion for the proceedure?i do assume it needs the air removed to work properly,it is hydrostatic, oil flows in and out but not thru it.
also if you have any of these that leak dont throw them away it looks like i can assemble a kit for repair. i got mine apart without damaging anything and it just needs resealing.
