I had a similar experience in my last Spanish language class.

After taking the final exam, the teacher called each of us to "discuss" what grade we should get for the semester. I had never experienced anything like that before.

The teacher asked me what grade I thought I should get for the semester. I responded with a B. She asked why. I said that though I never missed a class or an exam, I failed to check over my mistakes so as not to repeat them.

Happily, she said I was exactly right-- and she gave me an A for the semester!!

It sure felt good to get an A, but I really don't think I deserved is merely because I admitted my failing...
