I just rebuilt the head on our '88 190E. I noticed this before the rebuild but thought the rebuild may fix it. When driving around with the windows or roof open the smell of gasoline is really apparent. Windows up no problem. I don't think it's a leaky tank. The head, pistons, and valves had all kinds of carbon built up on them. I suppose that it is runnig too rich. Is there any way to adjust this myself. Are there any other things I should check before taking it to a shop? All the manuals say that it has to go to an MB tech to have the mixture adjusted. Why is this? Thanks
