The A124 (Cabrio 124) has a special control module fitted BEHIND the rear backrest. You must take out the rear seat backrest at it will appear directly in front of you at the center.

This module is famous for malfunctioning, and it controls both the top and the roll bar. Once it starts to misbehave there is no other solution but to change it for a new one.

The problem is cost: about US$1,500.

Before buying it, I will ask the service department at the dealer to just try the new part to see if it fixes the problem.
