The Australian delivered W124 300CE-24, 320CE and E320 coupes (M104 powered) were only available with the 5-speed 722.5 transmission whereas the sedans, wagons, pre '90 coupes and all 4 cylinder W124 models (including coupes) came here with either the 722.3 or 722.4 (4-speed) transmissions.

The 722.5 together with the 3.69 rear axle ratio makes for great performance from the M104 powered coupes but that transmission is fragile and expensive to repair, with some subsequently having the 722.3 retrofitted.
