My question is quite simple. Has anyone had a bunch of oil pool up in their breather box because of a failed vacuum pump? I'm not asking for detailed instructions r.e. the overhaul procedures for said pump, I just want to know if it is what is wrong with this car!
I've tried a bunch of different searches, and haven't gotten anywhere. I don't see how, on this normally aspirated engine, the oil could have gotten into the breather box from the CCV pipe, which is "downwind", if you will, from the filter element and housing. The element was saturated, and there were drops of oil coming out of the hose from the vacuum pump (which, incidentally, is also an air pump, depending upon which end you're talking about; apparently this unit has oil dripping from its anus). I think the vacuum pump needs some love. Anyone in agreement???????????

Thanks, again,
Jay.
