You don't need to use ramps, just slide a pan under there and catch the oil. Now since this is your first time at this, do you know how much oil you are going to need? You engine takes 2 GALLONS of oil. 8 quarts is the oil capacity for the engine in you car. So I hope that you are not using a standrd oil pan, because the oil will be flowing up and over and onto the ground.
For gloves, I just use diposable latex gloves.
