I'll bet you a donut the guy checked KBB and possibly Edmunds. He probably even checked around for similar vehicles and saw they weren't worth what he was asking.
He overvalued the car because he maintained it. **Supposed to do that anyway**. And he had it painted. can't sell a car with paint peeling now can you. If it was so well maintained why did it need a paint job?

I too respect your opinion, and I think we are really just picking one aspect apiece of a multi-facited equation. You are correct that it has a certain value to the average Joe. I was correct that you are looking for an MB-Joe to buy it.

Paint only lasts so long, and not everyone can keep their cars garaged. When I sell my '80 wagon it will barely have any paint left on it. Luckily, Astral Silver Matelic is very close to the color of the base metal....
