As far as the sun goes, it doesn't really matter during the summer here...it is so darn humid most of the time, that a walk to the back of the property can produce sweat without much effort, wether the sun is out or not.
Mosquitos can be a problem....ours have a voracious appetite, and as of late, may be carrying west nile disease.

We got west nile here too, and have had for a couple years now...not as long as you have...
