When four candidates split the vote, only 25% wind up having their candidate win.
That is because they modelled their system after ours, and our system is a two party system to the bone. Multi-party systems only work under the parliamentary model, which forces some combination of fractional winners to form a coalition so they can represent a 51% majority. It is a vastly superior system to the increasingly antiquated US geographical winner-take-all model.
