Just a day or so ago, I posted here issues I've been having with my windows XP. I spent most all of yesterday working to resolve problems that included a recently and dramatically slowed PC, along with error reports, download failures, Microsoft up-date failure etc.

I was able to update Spy-bot to 1.4 and ran that, also ran my Stop-Sign virus/spy ware, and Windows Registry Cleaner, still no change, so I logged into Lockergnome's Problem Solver, and found one small issue did have to do with a recent re-installation of a wireless keyboard "MKBDATA.DAT file not found, but solved this issue by reinstalling the program. But the biggest change came when I downloaded a trial virus scanner called TROJANHUNTER which claims to go well beyond any other scanner finding open ports, trojan horses etc. They give you a 30 free trial, that actually is free and will scan and find issues then remove all of them.

After running a full scan last night, it found numerous Trojans and several back door, or open ports, and corrected them all. Neither Spy-Bot or Stop-Sign, never found these problems. As a result, today my PC has never run as fast! It opens and closes faster than ever before! Like a new lease on life!

Now I'm tempted to go buy a 512 mb card for it!
