Brian Carlson is the guy to ask about SD's and SDL's here. The chief difference I'm aware of is a slightly longer body and six cylinders, in the SDL, and the SD will have 5 cylinders. The SDL will likely give slightly better fuel economy and more pep!

My guess is that you can find a reasonably good SDL for around $5k, but really nice ones sell for more!
