Soaking my cylinder head in biodiesel
Wow, bought some biodiesel yesterday (B100) to soak the cylinder head of my 300D in... looks like the carbon caked on in all the intake ports is coming right off.
It also smells real nice. A faint smell of soybeans. Yum.

You're soaking your entire head. Carefull, the biodiesel may eat away at the valve stem seals.

That stuff is a natural cleaner. If you don't mind me asking how long did you have to soak them to get them cleaned up?

the caked on carbon started coming off within minutes of immersion.... I bet tonight when I get home it will be all ready to go. I may need to wipe it off with a brush, but probably won't need to actually scrub it

I'm wondering, is it because of a chemical reaction or the LYE that is used in the production of BD?

All the lye is removed by the end of the process in properly made biodiesel.
