Its worth trying brake fluid as well. Its paint stripping properties will help destroy the varnish. Doing a water injection after may be a good combination.
The water spray pre turbo is a bit of a worry. If you could connect the washer pump to a nozzle & inject to the manifold post turbo would be better. Just keep the water volume well down to avoid bending rods.

Good Luck.

Absolutely!

--Brake-fluid breaks down paint especially std. oil-paints like used in houses!

That type paint is based on Linseed-Oil--which is just another type of V.O. that polymerises very quickly in air.
A similar thing happens with Rape/Sunflower/Soy based oils at temperature and exposed to oxygen--like in an engine cylinder...

Give it a good couple of days real soaking in Brake-Fluid, That'll break it down, change lube-oil, and run it hard to re-seat the rings....:)

When doing Water-Injection, you really need the car driving on the road, not just shoving it in the inlet!
Arrange the nozzle to spray post-turbo, and approx the same flow as fuel-consumption, maybe a little more. Dont Use Meth/Water--Just WATER only.....

--Only Water makes Steam which does the cleaning--Meth just burns--Dunno why you added that anyway!....

No need now to put anything in the fuel itself. Just use good clean diesel or BioDiesel, Dont waste money on all those preparations, they just burn like diesel anyway in the cylinder, and you've used so much so far, the pump etc should be clean enough!;)

I don't know why i added methanol. I guess i can't follow directions :)
Anyway, i'll try to give it one more go. But a new turn of events has occured -- I now need a starter. My wife ran it out of gas on Sat night and while doing the 100,000 cranks it takes to reprime a 603 or 602 engine the starter went out. Had to call AAA. So now it probably needs a starter.

This car is really close to coming under the knife. I need too many parts off it. My keeper wagon needs a tranny maybe. It slipped again today driving around town. My 1993 Sedan needs front suspension parts and tires. My wagon could use a new tach and speedo. Its 10 mph off and tach doesn't work. Also it needs accumulators. I suspect my wagon's transmission problems may be due to bad cooling as it runs a little hotter than the other w124s i have. .So i could use a radiator. Guess who has a brand new radiator ? :) Oh and the wood trim is so nice in this wagon. And the AC works.
And it would be fun to tear down the engine and see what it looks like inside -- assess the WVO damage.

I had thought the only thing more fun than a wagon would be another one for the wife. Namely , so she would'nt steal mine :) But now i think that what would be more fun is fixing her beetle and fixing up one really nice wagon for me and having a parts car. In fact i really need to fix a couple cars through and through so i have some reliable transportation.

This week its bit me in the butt. 1, 2 , 3, 4 of my 5 cars gave me car trouble. The wife killed her bettle by busting the oil pan. The suburban starter shorted out when i went to tow the beetle. (The stud on the solenoid came lose and was grounding the big starter wire from the battery. I tightened it tonight and am charging the batteries. Its a new starter only 6 mos old . Hopefully its fixed now.) The starter on my fair parts wagon went out. My main wagon transmission slipped today and we barely made it home. That leaves the good ole black 93 which badly needs front end, tires and alignment. So I think that starter going out is a sign. I need to go with the flow on this one.

Part out has begun. Sorry fellas. I couldn't replace the starter. I looked at it but it looked to be a bit of a hassle given i'd have to pull one off a working car to swap out and do it again after my test. Had i an extra starter handy, i'd have done it. Ill pull head and take pics and we can see if indeed there is WVO damage or what.

I'm keeping a lot of the parts for myself but if you need something holler. I'll start a new thread.

vstech 01-02-2011 01:38 AM

you can keep the engine/tranny... I've got spares... I could come help you pull it... I can bring anything you need for your suburban... no matter the year it is...

... pnp has a few 124's no wagons, though, so if you need the back glass nevermind... but the 94 has all but passenger's rear glass. really good shape.

BrianCostello 01-02-2011 11:02 AM

does it have the two piece engine belly pan???

I know it would be a pita to ship. . .but I need one.

PM me please

Quirky Mercy 01-02-2011 09:35 PM

Oh those Beetles! My uncle had one and lost the pan also. then ran over a stop sign and popped the timing belt somehow, bending all the valves. I am curious to see the innerds of your WVO engine.

babymog 01-02-2011 10:48 PM

What color interior?

thayer 01-03-2011 08:54 AM

the pull a part in winston has back glass for a 124 wagon.

mespe 01-03-2011 09:57 AM

I'm looking forward to pictures as well

biopete 01-03-2011 11:59 AM

I promise pics will come. it may be not until spring as i've had a series of bad luck with cars and need to get all my drivers straight before i play. Vstech wants to keep the car on the road so he has dibs on it when i'm done with it if there is anything left. So no part out at the moment.
