Nah

Thus far this forum has had a good bit of information sharing between MauinGreen's SVO forum (infopop as some of you call it) and I'm sure it is the same with their biodiesel forum. I just don't go there often enough to speak for them. With this in mind and because each forum houses its own unique set of experts I would suggest NOT starting a new forum but increasing the sharing potential of information between the two B.Boards.

I suggest that in each of the two bulletin boards we work together by providing a sticky of some sort at the top that is simply a Link to each others forum. For example at the top of this forum put in a sticky that has links to the MauiGreen Biodiesel forum and another to the SVO forum. Do the same on the MauiGreen site to this forum. Very simple. No huge modifications needed and each group gets a better connect with the other forums set of guru's and/or gear heads.

With a new forum started this B.board will attract some of the guru's of Biodiesel but still would not end up with as good of information if we just had a window (link) that let each other jump back and forth to each others bulletin board.

Did you mean this:

Or one of these.

Actually I moderate the FAQ/DIY sticky thread at the above site (SVO forum). In this is a specific MERCEDES post of conversion information. I have MANNY links in it that thread that take folks to this forum. That is how some discovered this forum. The odd's are fairly good I can get them to put links on the Biodiesel forum too.

I agree, I don't think there is a need for another forum here. It would just dilute the biodiesel discussion out there.

Biodiesel posts that relate to mercedes diesels belong in the diesel forum, like all fuel related questions. More technical or general questions can be directed over to the infopop forums, which is probably the most active of the biodiesel forums at the moment.

I did think of one good reason to have a forum here. I am not sure a forum is needed to achieve this goal but it would help keep the clutter out of the diesel forum. The biodiesel sites have some underlying politics that seem to get in the way of some technical points. If a forum here maintained the same spirit as the diesel forum it could be a very useful resource. Now I have decided to vote yes, not that it makes any difference.

As one interested in diesels only because of the alternative fuels potential, I think an alternative fuels forum would dilute the technical information for diesel engines, which is what I am here for. If I want more specific information, I go to the forums like the Maui site or biodieselNow. There is nothing Mercedes specific about alternatives, and the mechanics of diesels are essentially the same for any fuel one chooses to burn.
