W124 front driverside suspension

the name for the piece has slipped my mind but the bracket that holds the top end of the spring has rusted pretty bad on my 300E. this hasnt happened to any of the other three and this exact same thing happened to my dads car earlier this year again only on the front driver side. was there a problem rust proofing this particular area of the car in 93 or something that anyone knows about because its odd that this happened to the only two 93 300E's that I know.

Also the body shop said to replace this part and weld it back on would cost $400...is this a fair price and is it worth it on a car that already has put 219k miles on it. He said the rest of teh car is in "immaculate shape" though as well.

Why not, as long as they can get it right and get it welded to some solid non-rusted metal. These days $400 bucks is a couple of sacks of groceries.
