How to remove chrome trim

1984 300D--

I have a small bubble of rust right next to the chrome trim that runs along the outside of the door, just at the base of the window.

How do I remove it?

My shop manual CD from MB did not mention how to remove it.

Thanks

I found it

I found the instructions for removing it on the CD.

It is under "Interior" which is odd, as this part is on the exterior of the car.

Anyway, section 68-510 explains it.

It pops out when you pry up from the bottom... according to the picture.

A piece of wood and a rubber mallet will help out alot. You might want to protect the paint with tape first and then seat the wood underneath and give a good firm whack with the mallet. There are three or four clips that hold the chrome and the window seal to the door sheet metal. Don't pry! It's got to be more of a lift. The trim actually comes off and go back on pretty easily. I love how these cars are designed to be taken apart.

Good luck!
