door making awful sound

I have a 1983, Benz Coupe desil with a good florida body.the drivers door latch going into the inner panel makes an awful sound,also the pin that holds the assembly togther looked lose. i tried to tap it into place but the problem has goten worse. I would to know how to fix this before it gets worse. thanks. bruscoupe.
