Repainting the fuel filler area
Years of small fuel spills have taken a toll on the inside of the fuel filler recess. Normally, I wouldn't worry about something nobody will see 99% of the time, but it looks tacky. There were a few biodiesel spills that didn't get attended to with the hose as fast as they should have been, so we're talking paint lifting and bubbling up from the surface.
Luckily, all the damage is confined to the inside and not the door or outside panels. I figure this is something I can do myself in a day since it's such a small area. I know I'll need to remove the filler door and clean the area to be repainted with some sort of degreaser and also remove some of the damaged paint. I've never done any painting like this before, so what sort of prep work do you recommend I do to the afflicted area? If you want pics of the damage, I can get those during daylight.

Seal the tank opening and clean the area with a metal brush on a dremel.

They are all over ebay and many of the knockoffs are nice tools too.
Seems like all the tools are transferable too.
