How to connect the C4 Multiplexer and the computer via WIFI

Connecting the Mercedes-Benz C4 (SDconnect) Multiplexer to your computer via Wi-Fi requires some configuration both on the multiplexer and on your computer. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you set up the Wi-Fi connection:
Step-by-Step Guide to Connect C4 Multiplexer via Wi-Fi:
1. Pre-requisites

Ensure you have a Mercedes-Benz C4 SDconnect multiplexer.
A laptop or PC with DAS/Xentry diagnostic software installed.
Proper installation of SDconnect Toolkit (comes with Xentry/DAS).
Make sure your multiplexer is powered on (either via the car’s OBDII port or a 12V power source).

2. Initial Wired Connection

Before setting up Wi-Fi, connect the C4 multiplexer to the laptop via an Ethernet cable to establish a stable connection for configuration.

Turn on the multiplexer.
Open the SDconnect Toolkit on your computer.

3. Configure Wi-Fi Settings in SDconnect Toolkit

In the SDconnect Toolkit, go to Administration and select the multiplexer device from the list.
Click on Configuration or Settings.
Select the option for WLAN (Wi-Fi) settings.
Choose your Wi-Fi network from the list (it should be the same network your computer is connected to).
Enter your Wi-Fi password (if applicable) and confirm.
Set the connection mode to "Infrastructure Mode" for a connection via a router, or "Ad-Hoc Mode" for a direct connection to the laptop.

4. Connect the Multiplexer to the Wi-Fi Network

After configuring the Wi-Fi settings, disconnect the Ethernet cable.
Restart the C4 multiplexer.
Allow the multiplexer to connect to the Wi-Fi network. The screen on the C4 multiplexer will display a WLAN connection icon once it’s connected successfully.

5. Check the Connection on the Computer

Open the SDconnect Toolkit again on your laptop.
Click on Administration, and you should now see the C4 multiplexer listed as a device connected via WLAN.
If it’s connected correctly, the device status should show a green icon.

6. Test the Connection with DAS/Xentry

Launch DAS or Xentry software on your computer.
Try to run diagnostics on a Mercedes-Benz vehicle.
The software should now communicate with the vehicle through the Wi-Fi connection with the C4 multiplexer.

Troubleshooting:

Ensure that both your laptop and the C4 multiplexer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network (if using Infrastructure Mode).
If the connection fails, try rebooting both the multiplexer and the computer.
Check your firewall settings to ensure it’s not blocking the communication between the multiplexer and the laptop.

This setup allows you to work wirelessly and conveniently with your C4 multiplexer when performing diagnostics on Mercedes-Benz vehicles. Let me know if you need more details on any part of the process!
