I have had great success with Sal's. They are great guys and very knowledgeable. They recently completed the rebuild on my 62 220sb engine and i am very happy with their work. Very fair on prices too.

If anyone in Santa Cruz needs a good mechanic, I can highly recommend Water Star Motors.

They are always done on time, very respectful, inexpensive, and will let you provide junkyard/used parts. I have had them do a lot of work on my 190, and all of it was great.

Much better than the other MB indys in Santa Cruz.

I've been looking for a shop here in the south bay that can do some work on my 300 SEL and this shop has been recommended
to me. I was wondering if anyone here on the list has has any experience with these guys?

If you don't mind driving, there is no one better than Mr. MB Motors.
If you are looking for a Mercedes technician in your area, try PM'ing Hi-Power.

He lives in the South Bay (Rancho Palos Verdes), and has taken both of his Mercedes to a good shop in the area that is run by a guy named Hanz or Franz, who is from Germany.

Thanks for the reccommendation, I live in Tarzana, so it's a no-brainer.

Does he do smog checks? I suppose he could at least steer me in the right direction and help get the car ready.

I also like Europen Car Service in San Rafael. I've not been too happy with Pete's in the city. If forced to use the dealer in S.F. avoid the Folsum street shop. From my experience their Clay street location is much better (not cheap but at least honest).
