I recently purchased a 1992 300 TE 4matic wagon. It has a radio head installed, with missing removeable faceplate. It has a single CD capability. Is this possibly an original ? If so where can I get a new faceplate, and what is the make/model? If not, does someone have a new head for sale that will fit this car ? Thanks to all.

Hi Frank.
Most likely this is an aftermarket unit. The only way to find out what the make and model is, is to remove the unit. I'm fairly sure you need some special pins/keys to remove it but you can make them yourself. If you have a steel coathanger then you are halfway there. The radio should have two slots in the front(three with the cd opening) one on each side. The radio is held in with some clips that are pushed up when you insert the pins/keys in these slots. Just make two pins out of the coathanger and try to find away to lift the clips up and release the unit. Then just pull out. Make, model # should be on a label. Once you know this info you can call the manufacturer and order a new face plate. Be prepaired to answer some questions and you might have to prove that you bought the car and not stole it. Louis. |

Louis, thanks much for all of the information. I'll check that out and see what surprises await ! If aftermarket, never know what kind of wiring job they did back there ! Then again, could get lucky !
Thanks again for the reply, very helpful. Frank
