Rewiring Speakers W123

I have tried pulling the new cable through with the old but no luck.

How do you remove the door panel?

First, in the inside door handle there is a black plastic
cover.
Carefully remove it with a small thin screw driver.
Under the cover is a small philips head screw.
Remove this.
Now you can pull the whole chrome handle cover down
over the door pull.
On the top of the pull in another philips head screw,
bigger than the previous one.
There are two more under the armrest part.
Remove the black knob for the door lock.

Now gently pry the corners of the panel loose, you
normally need a special tool for this but if you are
carefull you can do without it.
Carefull is the word, because the panel is pressed
cardboard and breaks easily.

You will notice that something is still holding the panel
even after the panel seems loose all around.
There is a little hook on the front part of the
pocket on the door panel.
Just lift the panel straight up and it should unhook.

Reverse for installation.

Louis.

Rewiring speakers- W123 '82 300D-Turbo

Hi,

I have the same question for my 1982 300D-Turbodiesel. It has small speakers (3-inch, I think) located in the dashboard, not the front doors. And are any problems encountered when doing the same for the rear deck speakers? Which direction can the new wire be pulled from? Thanks in advance for your help.

Marshall,

I have a 240D which is the same body style. You can get speakers that fit in both the front and rear. I got mine at Best Buy. It is easier to remove the rear seat and the panel in the runk that covers the fuel tank. Inside the cabin wire can be run under the carpet.

It will take about 60 feet of wire which is available at Home Depot or Lowes.

How to pull new wire to in-dash speakers?

Thanks for your reply. What about pulling new speaker wire to the front in-the-dashboard speakers in a 1982 300D-Turbodiesel?
