7 channel BOSE amp died totally 92 W140
Hello all!
Well 1 1/2 years ago ai Installed a new head head unit and sub woofer amp in my 1992 300SD W140. This was due to NO cd and the subwooer channels were doing the squeking and poping etc. that the BOSE amp does. A few weeks ago my left front speaker started the SQUELAING noise on start up and then a couple of weesk ago it totally died, only my subwoofers working on their separate amp. But at the same time my Sony HU radio reciever has died too. The CD woorks OK as does the changer. the system sounded AWESOME with lots of BASS!!! so... my delemia is... Choices! LOL!! First.... 1. have to replace or repair the head unit. It' almost 4 years old. I liked the HU separate Front and rear pre-amp amp out and Sub pre-out. then.... 2. Repair the 7 channel amp and run system as it was. or 3. Install after market amp (s). HOwever I have heard the factory BOSE speakers will sound HORRIBLE without the BOSE amp's crossover/EQ system. Is this true? I feel option 2 is the most cost efective, Is it cost efective to reapor a 4 year HU? It was $450 CDN 4 years ago and had a 3year warranty!! LOL! any other ideas? Steve |
