What MB head unit can I replace the factory one with in my 97 E320?
I am thinking about replacing my factory head unit with another MB one. I have the factory changer and would like to have an indash cd player. Are there any that can simply plug in to the existing wiring?
Thanks in advance, Steve

Here are your options:
The Alpine MF2297 is the non-fiber optic in dash cd player used in European '94-'98 models. It will control your changer. Its AM tuning is European so it's different than US tuning. The Becker BE4602 is the aftermaket unit sold by Mercedes dealers. It has the Mercedes name on it like the MF2297. But it will control only Becker changers like the discontinued Silverstone 2662 or the new 7860 which Becker is having problems with. It's a model made for the US so tuning is ok. You can get an Alpine Audio 10 MF2910, it has the Mercedes name on it, but it's fiber optic so won't control your changer either. There are other various Becker units (Mazda, Traffic Pro, etc.) but none I know of have the Mercedes Benz name on them. Maybe others can add to the list... |
