no sound 99 ml320

ok all of a sudden i get no sound from my deck lights and power ok cd changer working at the beginning i used to get sound for a few seconds in one speaker then it would fade away to nothing.is my amp shot and where can i locate it,or should i start rebuliding to a new system!!
