CD Changer for '00 E320 4Matic

Hello from a newbie to this forum and to MB's. I'll apologize in advance if I'm asking a repetitive question - but I have done several searches trying to find some answers to a simply question, but to no avail.

Wanting to install a CD changer in a 2000 E320 4Matic, but do not wish to pay the $500-600+ for a factory unit. Would I be correct in assuming that the Alpine brand is the best alternative, realizing, of course, that wiring adaptors are required? Are there particular Alpine models that are preferrable? Or, are there more preferrable brands that I should be looking for?
