Hi:
Wondering if anyone has experience installing a changer with FM Modulator a la JVC CH-X350RF. I am interested in learning about how to install it, but the two piece becker radio is giving me fits. I realize the FM Modulator is a cop-out of sorts, but it is also $450 less than all of the ridiculous adapters for an Alpine 620. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, CMOSS |

Installing Changer
Hi its basically very simple installation. All you need is to find out by following your antenna lead where the factory antenna is plugged in and take this off and install
the antenna from the modulator in the radio and male from the car antenna lead will interface with the female of the modulator. After that you need to locate a power source 12v.constant and 12volt switched and ground the black wire and you are in business.Tune your fm to the station selected on the modulator and thats all. Let me know if you need more help. AV

FM Modulator Interface
AV:
Thanks for the information. From your description, it sounds like I should pull the head-unit to access the antenna interface, right? My next question is where I should mount the FM modulator. Would you install it up in front? Then, would you run the cable interface to the changer in back along the doorsill? Finally, again, I apologize, this is all new to me, where would you find a good power source? Is there something near the head-unit? I have three wires - back-up, power, and ground. They have some sort of a crimp on the end. How do I attach these to another wire? Thanks in advance for any help. I apologize for the rudimentary nature of my questions. BTW, nice 300E! CMOSS |

Installing changer
Thanks CMOSS
Yes all the connections will have to be accessed at the head unit. 1.The backup is your 12v+ constant. 2.Power is your switched 12v+ 3.and ground. Use crimp connectors and that should work. You will find allthese wires at the head unit, and if i were you i would hide my fm modulator in the same area as your head unit. The changer can be mounted under one of the front seats if room permits or in the rear cargo area.Make sure you correct the suspension on the changer(ie horizontal or vertical mounts)
