| 2000 S430 Radio Amp Problem

Last week, my radio suddenly stopped working. A message on the naviation screen said No CD Changer. Yes, I have a CD Changer. I had absolutely no problems prior to the time it quite. I simply cranked by car and the radio would not play. The radio display shows on the navigation panel, I can change channels, and switch on the navigation system. When I push the CD button, the No CD Changer message appears. I have had no recent repairs or equipment installed in the car. My MB dealer did replace the CD changer over a year ago, replacing it with the original MB brand. The car has under 50K miles and I drive it only every 7-10 days. It is housed in an enclosed garage. It has never been wrecked. My MB repair rep called me today to say the Amp needs to be replaced. I asked if he is certain this is the problem and he said yes. So, for about $1,100.00 my problem can be solved. (I just choked as I typed that figure) What upsets me is that I had the very same problem with my previous SE500. I find it hard to believe that radio amps die so easily in these cars, or do I just have bad luck. I would appreciate any help anyone can offer. I am very distressed over this repair. |

				Any fix on this?

Hello North, Were you able to figure out what the problem was? Was it the amp. I have the same exact problem. Thanks! |
