Radio Locks up

The factory Becker radio cassette on my 1991 E300 locks up every now and them. Disconnecting car power at the battery is the only way I have found to clear it. Interesting, the removing the fuse is not enough.

I suppose the only option is replacing the radio. Anyone ever seen this? Thanks.
