Is there a stock CD changer for 87 300e
Hi folks,
The title pretty much says it all, I'm curious if there is a plug in CD changer for the 87 300e. Our radio works fine, so I'd just like to add a cd changer if possible. If there isn't one, is there a later model CD player that will plug in to the car and not require me to rewire the whole mess? Thanks, Bob Kopicki 87 300e 85 XJ-6 67 TR-4a |

There is not a direct fit one for the Becker 754.
You could always run an FM modulated unit to the stock headunit. If not, the 1432 model has a CD changer output you could run a stock style on.

There were no factory CD changers in 1987.
Nothing about your OE radio will control a CD changer. IMHO, this is your best bet: http://www.perfectmarketaudio.com/audio_10.html Clearly there are plenty of alternatives. Here's another: http://swstereo.com/Products/Becker/be4602.shtml Both these have in-dash CDs and will also control remote changers--but with different types of connections. Note: in 1987, Mercedes stereos were 2-channel. Any new radio you buy will be 4-channel. If you just connect 2 of your 4 channels to the console-mounted fader, you will lose half your new radio's power. Best bet is to remove fader entirely and wire direct to the four speakers. If you do that and order the radio above, you'll still need the adapter harness but you should tell the seller you're going to rewire for four channels. Your dealer can provide a plastic blanking plug to install where fader was removed. 1987 was ancient history as far as car stereo goes.

There is no changer that interfaces with a 1432 except the Silverstone 980 I think, unless there are adaptors most people have not heard of. BTW The 1432 is a 2 piece radio that the CD is looped thru via a DIN. Silverstone changers are next impossible to find and very very few people repair them, not even Becker |

Wasn't aware of the CD changer issue with the 1432, probably why I see the wiring there but not the unit itself in cars still.
Only reason people want the Becker is to keep interior stock appearing. Most modern units look out of place.
