C32 Sub

I am looking to add a sub enclosure to my 2002 C32, which has the the Bose system, and separate, deck mounted sub.

I believe the amps are behind the panel in the trunk on the driver's side. Can anyone confirm this and tell me which amp drives the Bose sub? Am I going to have a problem connecting my 4 ohm box to the Bose system? Is there any more to it than connecting the power and low level signal?

Thanks for the help!

yes you can without taking out the amps, take the speaker line out of the rear deck (thats the sub in a bose system and just plug it to your new sub which I suppose you intend to place it in the rear trunk, ) your problem would be can the original amp already installed in your vehicle capable of loading enough power to run your subs? what seems to be the problem of your current sound system?

Cool:

Thanks for the info! The stock system is OK, not great. I have found that the biggest problem with stock systems is low end bass, especially with road noise. The Bose deck mounted sub is not bad, and a BIG improvement over MB's usual weak stereo's, but adding my sub box will definitely make a huge improvement.

I hadn't thought about using the car's sub amp. Any idea what power it puts out? The amp I have is "300 watt", 75 watts per channel in stereo. By today's standards it is pretty weak, but it still pounds hard! I'm not trying to win competitions or wake the neighbors, I just want more oomph at the low end.

Thanks - Mike

All you need to do is "tap" the signal from the bose sub into your external amp to get the bass signal then get a remote turn on signal from the stock head unit. I would not entertain the idea of using the power from the stock bose...you would definately do damage plus not enough power for your sub.

I took all the panels in the trunk apart and decided it was better left to a professional. The sub amp is in the trunk behind the DRIVER'S side panel. There is a huge bundle of wires to it, and I couldn't figure out what was what. The shop I went to wired it so the existing Bose sub is still working, allowing me to disconnect my box and leave everything original. They agreed that the Bose sub amp would not power my box, although it looks pretty stout. Sound is awesome now!
