I am a novice when it comes to car audio but I am constantly learning. I learn from my friend who has a competition show car (it is not a Mercedes it is a rice burner). Last summer I upgraded the speakers in the 1983 240D. I am planning on installing a new audio system this summer. What I have thought about is as follows. For a receiver a JVC KD- SH99 connected to a 12 disc changer. I plan on cutting the the rear deck to accomodate a pair of Infinity 625i 6.5 inch speakers replacing the Infinity 552i 5.25 inch speakers in the rear. Leaving the Infinity 452i 4 inch speakers in the front. I plan on using a Kenwood KAC- 959 5 channel amp to run the speakers. I plan one running one RS10A Bazooka 10" bass tube in the trunk. This is all tentative plan so I decided to get the opinions of fellow Mercedes owners. I am not looking for a system to knock pictures off peoples walls. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
With a system of this caliber would my OM alternator be able to handle this power under a full load with A/C head lights etc. One last question, when installing an amp is it ok to install the amp behind the metal plate in the trunk where the gas tank is. Thanks in advance for all help.
