Cleaning the fader

I'm sandpapering the terminals on the fader. Is there anything I can do to clean the inside (wd-40 was mentioned by someone earlier)? Or must I disassemble the fader to give it a good cleaning? While I'm at it, is there any way to clean the connector that the fader plugs into? Mine seems kinda loose while the power mirror connector doesn't wiggle at all.

Thanks!

I've been experimenting with a solution sold, I think, by Radio Shack, that is formulated to dissolve copper on printed circuit boards. I used it to remove the corrosion on the female plugs in the headlight assembly. I brushed a liberal amount of solution into the contacts, let it sit for about 5 minutes, then dipped in water to remove , then a blast of shop air to dry. Electrical Contact cleaner, spray bomb, also Radio Shack, works good for internal parts like your fader. WD40 is light oil, I wouldn't use this.
I'll leave aside the question of why would anyone want to restore a fader....
