'81 300SD where is fuse for antenna motor?
Can anyone tell me which fuse handles the antenna motor and where it is located? Does not seem to be in the fuse box under the hood.
Thanks |

3 fuses involved. 9 & 13 feed power to radio, 15 feeds power to antenna. All located in fuse box.

Thanks Johnt49. The motor has worked all these years. I tested it using a screwdriver inside the mechanism to short it and make it run. Ran great two or three times then just quit. I cleaned the points (there are about six or seven) and tested the connections to see that all the wires were getting power. I may have gotten one set of points too far apart - front right - and could not get it back together. There is almost zero gap in all the other sets of points.
In any event since I do not think I messed up anything else - either it is a fuse or I need to get that set of points closer together. Thanks for the help. |

Johnt49- you were right; it was fuse 15. Funny, I looked at the diagram inside my fusebox at least six times and never saw that it said "antenna motor." I now see it plainly.
Replaced the fuse and have power to the motor again. Can hear it click when I hit the switch. However it is still not moving and will not take up the antenna cord. Will wait and try it later. Hope I have not messed up the points. That goes to prove the axiom - always try the easiest fix first! |
