Flip LCD Headunits in a 300E?

Hey Audio People!

Has anyone tried to install one of those slide out screen head units word in a W124 chassis car?

I know these unit will not seem to fit since the headunit is buried deep in the console, but I thought I would ask.

Like this unit: AVH-P5000DVD

Thanks!

I believe Powerpig has one or more of these units in cars of his. If you don't get any responses here, PM him.

I have several in my cars. As far as the 124, it does fit in the 92 CE, but didn't fit in the 95 E320 Cab. Hope this helps.

That seems strange. I thought the center stack where the HVAC controls and radio sit were designed the same.

Seems like the one in the Cab sticks out about an 1/8" more.

I had one in my SD for about a month but like it was mentioned, I got pissed having to flip it down for the climate buttons and the fact that it always automatically popped out when the ignition was turned.

I suppose the controls on the screen, which are larger than the microscopic ones on the buttons would be nice to have, but otherwise this concept escapes me. Video in a car seems like one more distraction.

The GPS feature comes in handy not to mention the backup cam for she who hits everything while going backward.

Those backup cameras kill me! I can see having one on a 40' RV, but cars? I guess they're a good thing for some people.

The GPS part is good. I forgot about that. If I ever get off the pot and get that Instinct, I'll have a constantly updated GPS on my phone.
