w124 head unit install question
I know this topic has been rehashed a couple times on the forums, but I wanted to ask some questions with regards to installing a head unit in my 1995 E300.
1. If I connect the harnesses antenna trigger wire to both my antenna trigger on the head unit as well as the amp remote lead on my head unit will I be able to use my factory amps? Any adverse effects? 2. With the aforementioned configuration could I connect the head unit speaker wires directly to the unit? Or is it required that I use the preamp outputs on the head unit? 3.My Harness seems to have been cut from a previous install, would you recommend I put it back together and use the amp integration harness along with the metra harness? If so is there a big box electronics store that sells the proprietary clip spade connectors (from cut wires to the back of the factory harness) that go into the Mercedes Harness connector? 4. How do I go about opening the A and B harness connector? 5. Currently only my rear speakers work on my car, could this be attributed to an inoperable amp? 6.What is the best way to run a wire from the head unit to the trunk? I am thinking behind the dash underneath the plastic mouldings through the trunk grommet (next to the seats)? Is there an easier way? Thanks in advance for any help!
