Question HELP Replacing speakers in 81 300SD

What speaker will fit in the factory hole in the front and rear WITHOUT interfereing with the stock grilles? Maybe like this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Pioneer-4x6-speakers-130-watt-Jeep-YJ-Wrangler_W0QQitemZ170367640262QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCar_Speakers?hash=item27aab3e2c6&_trksid=p4506.c0.m 245 ? or will they hit the grille? What can I do for rear speakers and a decent cheaper HU? Im not in to bongo music but like a nice sounding system but dont need a real expensive one. I mostly listen to jazz and classic rock, plus a little Rush Limbaugh ... Thanks for the help!!

I've done the EBay and on-line route with many speakers in Mercedes over the years. Last time I needed replacements, I just removed one of the old ones and did some shopping locally. I ended up buying a pair off the demo rack. The sales guy was very helpful, he even let me take one out to the car and do a 'dry fit' so I could be certain they'd fit. The specs for the speakers you want can be researched on-line, so you know what you want, but nothing beats holding the prospective unit in one hand and the old one in the other for fitment.

If someone here has done a replacement on the exact same car as yours, you could look for speakers like they used, but they may or may not be available to you. Those speakers look just like the old ones in my '85 380SE BTW, which I replaced with Eclipse units off EBay (sorry, the job was years ago and I don't know the numbers.) I paid a lot, but they sound fantastic (and they were used, so I was very lucky)

the pioneers work well...I used the same ones. They sound fantastic with a 50w deck too.

I put Infinity References up there, as well as in the back of my 560SEL. They were the 3.5" I believe.

The driver's side one just BARELY fit, and was pressing up against the underside of the grille slightly, and the passenger side speaker needed more work. I had to get the speaker mount from a newer W126 (88+) from the junkyard, and cut out the old factory speaker, and mount the new speaker to the underside with self-tapping screws. Was difficult and tedious, but the result was outstanding. They really sounded amazing.
