Anyone Ever Retrofit an E320/W124 For iPod/MP3 Player?

There has to be a way to do this without crazy amounts of work.

You can send it off to becker for a relatively heavy fee, or put in an aftermarket unit yourself. I'm not sure what would constitute "crazy amounts of work" but running new speaker wires is pretty easy...

You can have the stock head unit modified or buy any aftermarket deck in the last 10 years, they all have iPod cable adapters. Running new wires is not necessary for the front speakers, all of the connections can be spliced (after) the fader, from right behind the head unit. I have been running my stock speakers this way for nearly 2+ years now, and they are also amp'd. Running new wires for the rear speakers is easy.

Becker has a great head unit, I just bought one for my 1995 w124. CD, 8th inch aux jack, removable faceplate, and IPOD cable. Plug and play for $350. Pretty slick. IPOD sounds okay, a little static noice but not too bad.
