Power antenna problem

Have a 1988 560 SEL. When I first got it, the antenna would go up half way when the radio was turned on and went all the way down when radio turned off. Just noticed that the anenna will not come up automatically when radio is turned on - you have to push the antenna up button to get it to come up. Turning off the radio still causes the antenna to go down all the way. The radio is a newly refurbished Becker Grand Prix original. (Refurbished by Becker) Any Ideas??

Find the single lead antenna control wire and plug its spade connecter in, next to the power plug.

I am sure you have the antenna switch in max position!?
Next: To check the antenna, hold that wire with the spade connecter to another 12 volt source, maybe from the cigarette lighter, just to make sure that it is not a radio problem.

I have to put the switch in the MAX position to get the antenna to come up. In the normal position it stays down. It cannot be the radio as I just put in a new refurbished unit from Becker with the same results. I will try the 12volts from another source. If it is not the wire - any suggestions on the antenna module for troubleshooting it??

I am a little slow, so please help me out to understand your antenna problem.

The antenna should extend when you turn the radio on, either with the ignition or the radio's on/off button, except when the ant. switch is in off position.

The antenna mast retracts when you turn the radio off.

The antenna switch has 3 positions;
1) = off, antenna does not extend.
2) = middle, antenna mast extends about 12 ".
3) = max., antenna mast extends about 36".

Which part does not work?

You have a 90 day parts warranty, talk to Ronn at Becker to get your antenna problem fixed.
