W126 CD changer

Can anyone with an original 10 disk CD changer tell me where and how it mounts into the trunk? Photos would also be appreciated.

There is a bracket which holds it in the "pocket" on the passenger side of the trunk. It attaches to the frame rail.

Wait, the 126 had a CD changer option?

For 1990 and 1991. I have one in my car

So the screws go through the trunk wall and screw into the frame rail?

Guess the holes would need to be sealed against the exterior elements?

Do you have one of the felt covers for yours? I don't have one of those.

Do not worry, they did not work very well from what I can remember.

Mine works great, but I've read they have problems with the mechanism jamming. It does select and seek very quickly, and the little orange LEDs that come on when you open the door to remove the magazine are a nice touch.

I have one that I think has the work gear failure (All signs point to it) DIY repair is possible but I haven't seen any posts about how to actually conduct the repair.

Here's another discussion about that problem:

And some generic information about the CD Changer:

Yep I bookmarked that page when I was originally looking for a changer to buy.

If someone finds a picture guide on the worm gear repair please post it.
(Here are some pictures of my unit that I took)

W126 CD Changer

My 10 disk CD changer came mounted to the car on the passenger side under the rear deck. The heavy bow style container was mounted and the CD player was fastened to that on the sides.

Request by Karl Von Benz

I have the 10 disk CD Changer for that car. I had it all rebuilt by the original mfr a few years ago for $300. Only thing it now won't release disks and needs serviced again.

I'll sell it to you or anyone who wants one for $150 but remember it does need some kind of repair (maybe that plastic wheel is all). You pay postage.

New, this 10 Disk Player sold for lots and lots of money. It comes with the metal holder you mount uder the rear deck shelf in the trunk and the CD Changer slided and locks into that, if you want to mount it that way. It also mounts other ways but I don't know what they are.
